I am an international student applying for the study permit from the subcontinent, couple of years back i had applied for a study permit and my visa was granted(2 years, masters program), but for some reason i did not leave the country. As i am applying again, is there anything i will have to do out of the norm? will this fact play a negative role ?
It will play a negative role in the sense that there is a chance you will get the study permit and will not commence study again. You should try to explain in SOP why that would not happen this time (if possible with proper documentation from last application). Should be possible to overcome.
This is a very rare case but I have seen such cases in this forum. You can definitely reapply and explain your reason like sickness, family problem, etc etc.
If you can explain your personal issue with proper documentation, you stand a chance. If you are vague just by mentioning personal issue, you will probably be rejected. So, even if you make up an excuse, make sure it is a strong one with all documents.
My understanding is that you MUST put your old UCI number. But wait for other members to opine. If you got a visa before, you must have had a UCI number.
