LANDED..........
Calgary here I come!!
Guys, i have forgotten that landing has to be done at the first port of entry.

I just bought tickets
and it's singapore>guangzhou>vancouver>calgary

I thought I could do the landing procedure in Calgary. Then it suddenly dawn on me that I have to do it at the first port of entry which is Vancouver!

Can someone advise me for the following

1. Can we do landing in Calgary according to this flight route that I am taking?

2. How long does it take to do the landing?(including queuing time)

3. We have 2 hrs before we take the next flight to Calgary. We need to take out our luggages and check them in again also. Will we have enough time?

1. No. You must land in Vancouver.

2. It should only take 15 minutes but I would make sure you have at least 2 hours between flights.

3. You should be fine with 2 hours in between flights.

we will reach at 9:40am and the next flight is at 12pm. I feel sick in the stomach suddenly.

so we are suppose to collect luggage at vancouver, go to do landing, and then check in luggage and board the plane. Is it a long walk to the landing office?

can anyone else share?

Yes - these are the activities you'll need to complete. We've certainly seen people here get everything done in under two hours. However it can sometimes take longer. It's no so much about how far a walk things are - as how busy immigration is at that time (which you really can't control).

Speak with the airline and find out what will happen if you miss your connection. Chances are they will just put you on the next available flight.

The airline will put you on the next flight out if you miss the scheduled one. No big deal especially for that route I believe there are a number of flights between van and Calgary. Personally landed in vancouver about a month ago on an early morning flight (around 10 am) and it took about 20 minutes

Great , hope that mine will take 20mins also. We will reach Vancouver at 940am. Hoping that we can make it!

Hi

I will be grateful if someone can answer my landing questions:

1)Proof of funds- Is there a specific form for proof of funds or do we write on plain paper? I am bringing 5000 CAD cash and want to later transfer 33,000 CAD after i open a bank account. So i am going to carry bank statement of UAE showing 33,000 CAD in Dirhams which i will be moving later. Since i am carrying less than 10,000 CAD do i need to declare or since i will be moving 33,000 later it is counted as i bought 5,000+33,000=38,000 CAD which is more than 10,000 CAD. So i have to declare?

2)PR card app- i read somewhere that first time applicants need not fill form IMM 5444E? Can someone confirm please?

3)List of items accompanying (2copies) and List of goods to follow (2 copies) - Can we write on plain paper or there are some specific forms. I am only taking clothes for now but would be moving tv, fridge and sofa etc later.

4) I will apply for SIN at Canada service centre in person later. Is there a form to be filled or no form is required if i apply in person? Is there too much rush in service centers in Toronto as i am going to Toronto city hall centre

5)For photos for PR and SIN will normal passport size photos do or there is special size requirment for photos?

regards

1) You do not need to declare the 5000 that you are bringing into the country. When you move the 33 thousand that will be dealt with at that time.

2) PR card will be sent to you after you land it is about 43 calendar days for processing now. They will confirm your details at the airport and then send it.

3) You can write it on plain forms. Do your research it might be cheaper to buy it in Canada. TV's in Canada use a different system than the UAE. UAE electricity is 220v North America is 110v

4) You can get your SIN number later. They are now only issuing a piece of paper no longer a card. You need to get you SIN number from a Service Canada location. You need a copy of your COPR and photo ID. Toronto City Hall will not have much for you. Service Canada and Service Ontario will do most of what you need.

sidetrack: what are the documents required to

1. look for job
2. do a driving test?

will SIN be enough?

Main document is the SIN, then any documentation specific to the field. For example I am a dentist so I need to have a dental license and a SIN.

For the driver license, I had a USA license they took that and along with my passport and landing paper and sin as well as a invoice from my cell phone switch it to Alberta license.

Hi,
On my COPR, it states that my port of entry is Toronto. Does this mean that I have to land there first or can I arrive at any other international airport, say Calgary for instance?

Which immigration stream did apply through given if PNP then you need at least to show intent to head for Ontario.

There are very few international flights that land directly in Calgary so assume you have checked that option given otherwise you would of course need to complete landing at the first POE before making a connection to Calgary.
