Hi Pros,

If I started working in June last year, and I took a 15 days (10 business days) paid vacation in the 12 months of my experience, does it count towards the requirement or should I wait for another 2-3 weeks before applying (and also, to get the reference letter from the company, should I wait?).

Moreover, if I travelled on the weekends to the US (multiple times for leisure trips), do I have to subtract that time from the 12 months requirement too?

Please reply ASAP I'll be grateful.

Thanks,

Your vacation time counts.

Nobody cares about weekends.

I still suggest you wait until 12+1 months and then apply. If you count exactly 12 months, there's a chance CIC would count 11 months and 3 weeks.

CEC Qualification period

Hi, I am little confused regarding my CEC 1 year qualification period. My graduation certificate mentions, I graduated in August 2013. But my transcript were issued on Sep 25 2013. My confusion is from when should I count my Work experience? Also Graduation certificate does not mention any date just August 2013. Does that mean the experience period counts from August 2013-August 2014 and I can apply under CEC in first week of August 2014?

If you had valid OCWP then your experience will start from August, 2013 and if you didn't had valid OCWP then your experience starts from the day you were issued PGWP.
I would suggest you that Apply after 1-2 weeks after you have completed 1 year just to be on safe side

Thanks Goku for advising. I was working on off campus work permit because by study and off campus work permit were valid till
Nov 2013 but I was not a full time student from August 2013 as my mandatory 3 month internship was completed from May 06- 06 August 2013. I got my PGWP from 04 Nov 2013.

I have some more confusion, should the reference letter from employer mention the NOC code? The company in which I am employed is very big as a result the HR is not willing to mention my NOC code according to their policies.

Do you know if immigration officers contact the employer to verify the NOC code and job duties or only when they feel something fishy is when they contact employer?

Lastly, after sending the application package to CIC, do you know what is the current wait period to get Acknowledgement letter for eligibility under CEC category? My PGWP expires in Nov 2014, and will have to apply for bridge work permit based on Acknowledgement letter for eligibility, can I use Acknowledgement of receipt to apply for extension?. Now that the rules for TFW have changed, I don't know what are the chances of getting extended.

I can try and answer one pasrt of your query regarding the NOC code...Its an added advanvatage if the company puts the NOC code in the reference letter. BUt even if they dont your duties and responsibilities should match the requirements of that NOC...and yes they can call to verify if they are not satisfied....

It's not strictly required that the NOC code be on the letter, so don't worry about that. But you do need to make sure that your job duties/responsibilities align with the NOC you put on your application.

CIC evaluates the job duties and responsibilities in the Letter and determine for themselves what the NOC should be. If they don't agree with what you (or your employer) chose, then there may be difficulties.

I would suggest counting your time from September 1.
