I went to have an upfront medical done in June, and all seemed fine. I am currently a temporary worker and filling in a form at the clinic that's what I've put in, then had the examination made etc. I got the eMedical info sheet and I only now noticed that it says:
"Client visa details
IME: Non EDE
Upfront medical type: Worker"

And I am freaking out, because to me it looks like they filed my medicals under the economy class or a worker-related PR application! Am I right? Or does this entry only reflect my current status? I didn't submit my PR application yet, but I will, and under the family class (sponsored by my CL husband)..... In other words, if I send info about this medical upfront with my PR application, is it going to be treated as a mistake, or a confusing thing, or maybe even make them wonder about me, or is it going to be Ok'd as just a medical that fits their family class PR requirement?

you are fine
we had the same thing
the doc said that this is the standard practice
good luck with your application

Hi zumbagirl, does that mean you already had your PR application approved? Or got any confirmation whatsoever from CIC that all is well?

I emailed the clinic I went to and this is what they wrote back:

"Hi there,
Your eMedical reports has been submitted, we cannot do any changes or re issue another form now. When we create file for upfront medical, the options we have for PR is under “worker”, as I was checking the form you completed here you checked the PR not the family class category. If you want to make this correction contact CIC, and they will be able to help just mention your UMI #."

The answer is a bit confusing because "you checked the PR not the family class category" bit just seems weird - I am sure I checked PR and I don't recall there being options for family class or the economy class.

So what do you think guys? My questions now are:

I didn't submit my application yet. If they already submitted the results to CIC, does that mean the medical will wait there at CIC's until I submit my application?

When I contact CIC, what is the standard name for the upfront medical type for people applying under the PR family class?

Would you suggest I contact them now, through their web form, and ask them to change the medical status from worker to whatever the PR family class medical type is called (although I don't have an application number yet, as I didn't apply yet). Or do I need to wait until I send my application and then explain to them the whole situation, maybe on a separate sheet of paper? The doctor didn't seem to be concerned, it looks like the same tests would be required regardless of the category, so maybe I don't have to re-take the medical.

Also, a final question: is it possible at all to have another medical examination done? Or is it that once I had one done I cannot do another one unless called on by CIC?

Thanks for any help.

i think you're overthinking this quite a bit. the medical receipt the doctor gave you will be going into your PR package and CIC will be using that to connect the medical results to your application. it doesn't matter what "catergory" it is currently listed as, since technically you're not currently a family class pr applicant. the same medical exam can be used for ALL immigration streams. you will not need to do another medical, nor should you waste your time and money getting another one done when the one you already completed will work just fine. relax, this isn't an issue. There's also no point in contacting CIC now since you haven't even submitted your PR application. the exam will be connected properly in due time. if there is an issue, cic will notify you then. i highly doubt this will become an issue with your processing.

wow, thanks so much CDNPR2014!!!!! I have to say I was a bit down :/ So you're saying I give the UMI number to the medical I did and they will just find the results the clinic sent them (already, apparently!) and connect them to my app and if there is any worry they will contact me, but it's unlikely since all medicals are the same for all classes?

Thanks very much for the clarification, you literally made my day (was pondering cutting my eyes with razorblades or something :/)

Print and send the E-medical information sheet as proof of upfront medical exam.

The clinic uses the UMI to electronically send CIC the exam results.

CIC already has the results, just no application to attach it to.

As long as the designation "Client visa details
IME: Non EDE
Upfront medical type: Worker" is not going to be a problem that's what I'll do and (try) not think about it too much! Does anyone know what IME: Non EDE means? And do you think I should explain in a letter with the PR application, or just leave this be?

Just leave it be.

Non EDE- Non excessive demand exempt.
