I just found out the designated doctor near me is charging some 600$+ for the list of medical exams for canadian PR. It is me and my wife who have to take the test. My questions are:
1. Can I get the tests done in another country/region?
2. Does anyone know the cost of tests in Mexico or India? (I am assuming the cost will be lesser in these countries)
1 - Yes but usually it is recommended for you to do them in your country of residence in case further tests are needed.
2 - I paid $232 USD in Mexico City.
1. So if they ask me to get further medical tests done, do I have to get them done from the same panel physician from whom I got my previous medical tests done?
2. Has anyone from the USA got their medical tests done from another country due to the cost? Have you faced any problems with that in your application?
I am asking this cozz it seems like even in UK you can get the exams done for 300 GBP which is still cheaper than 600$ USD and I am going UK recently.
I have to get the tests done for me and my wife... which is 1200$+ USD. It seems like a lot of money in waste, almost equivalent to the whole Canadian PR application fee for both of us.
Yes it was around $100 CAD in India. Given that the Canadian dollar has gone down in value by a significant amount, it is now $127 CAD. <- THAT is the exact amount (6000 INR which at current exchange rate of 47, is 127 Canadian dollars). Or 93 USD.
Yaa, the 1200$ + USD has made me think. It is too much. Seems even more than medical exam in UK which was 300 GBP (780 USD).
If anyone can tell me for sure there wont be any legal problems if we get our medical done in Mexico or UK (our country of residence is USA), or where can we get the answer on CIC website... I would really appreciate it.

I live in the USA and there is only one panel physician in my city who does the exam, which is very expensive: about $400 USD = $548 CAD. I am within driving distance of a Canadian city where there are about 20 panel physicians who charge much less, do lots more exams, use eMedical system, etc. So I went there for my exam: it cost half as much (about $222 USD), was able to get an appointment much sooner, and results available in a third of the time (3 days vs. 10 days). I have not had any issues with doing the exam outside of USA.
