Hi everyone,
I mailed my spousal sponsorship application on the morning of August 1st, the long weekend, and CIC Mississauga received it on the 6th.
I see that now the most current IMM1344 has been updated to "August 2014" being the newest version and the changes include information about the co-signer.
When I sealed my envelope the most current version online was the July 2014 one. I was wondering what you would advise me to do? Does the fact that my package was received by them on August 6th mean that I should have that version of the form? Should I mail it in now with my UCI? I don't even have a co-signer so my form would be identical to the old one.
I would really appreciate any input as I am quite nervous, my original Outland application was returned to me unprocessed after 5 months due to one outdated form so I would be so frustrated if history was to repeat itself
Thank you all
Since you have already sent your application in, and it hasn't been processed yet, there isn't much that can be done since they won't be able to locate it yet to add in a new form. Once they open your application and begin to check it, they should be able to let you know if they require the update August form or not. Usually, if something small is needed they will let you know and keep your application in queue for when they get he updated form. Hopefully since u mailed your application on the 1st, they won't need the updated form. I think they can be reasonable at times and give you some loo time for needing to give the new updated form. Not much to do now but wait, unfortunately...

Thank you both for your prompt responses....this whole process is so nerve-wracking, I'll be so relived when it's all over!
Has anyone heard of a case in which the form was valid when mailed but updated by the time it was received? I wonder how they have dealt with it in the past. Nothing to do but wait at this point...yikes
I've heard of people who had to send the updated form and others who haven't. One person who sent their Outland app in April 2012 had the whole package returned in August 2012and resent it then because it was so delayed.... But most people it seems they give the benefit of the doubt or at the very least, hold their spot in the queue so that they can promptly send what is needed and finishes approving the sponsor.
Yes, it is very stressful. Do your best to stay busy and not make yourself crazy. Chances are they won't care about the form or just ask you to send it while they go through the rest of your application. It is a hard process to get through, but once you're through it, it won't seem so bad and will all be worth it.

If I were you, I will send the new form asap. They haven't processed your application yet and may put yours on the side of pile. They might bother you to send the whole application package again as they couldn't be paying attention to every single tiny details e.g. the date stamped on your envelope. To avoid any delay might be causing, just fill the new form and send it along with a cover letter explains why you are sending the new form.

If you send it again immediately, before they even open the package and assign a uci number to the sponsor, they won't have anywhere to put the form. Wait for them to contact you or you will just have to send it again afterwards.
Keep calm! Don't freak out! Everything will go through smoothly with time and then you can out all of this behind you.
I cannot tell you whether to send the newer form or not but What I can tell you is that mine was sent back after 2.5 months because I signed one page in the wrong spot. It was signed and the additional info for that page was also signed but I had to sign it again and get it resent. To me that means they go over everything with a very critical eye for detail. I imagine they could not put your new form with the rest of your application yet but maybe waiting a month or two will help them in that, but I really don't know how that works for sure.
I have once sent sponsorship application for my parents on January 2014, but my mistake fill out the forms for Sept 2013, and they sent back all my application after a month and I had to do it again. For me, it was all of the forms with wrong version and not only on, so your case might be different.

When i sent my application the form was valid . A day or so later they updated it. They did not ask me to update that form. I was approved for sponsorship . My sponsorship took longer due to me missing a form (totally) for my step son.

Thank you! I'm hoping for the best
Good luck to you too
my husband and I sent our outlanding spousal application on Aug 3rd, and we didnt realize the form version issue until I saw this post. So I checked our forms figured our IMM1344 and IMM008 were both 11-2013. I feel a bit worried although we have no dependent children. I noticed IMM008 has 06-2014 version, and the latest 08-2014 version for dependent children(so I assume our 008 form is an issue here), not sure about IMM1344 though...
Just wondering how CIC-M would deal with this issue, would they process the sponsor part and ask for updated IMM008? or we will be the bad luck one has our whole package returned....Also we applied earlier, got UCI for sponsor, would it be ok we send up to date form with sponsor UCI to CIC-M?
Just an update, my husband received an email from CIC today giving us 45 days to send in the updated form, it said on the email that applications RECEIVED after August 1st need the updated IMM1344, I'm glad that a) nothing else is wrong 2) they haven't mistaken my application for an Inland one.
Just thought it would share

That's great, Alicia! Even though you have to send the updated form, it's good that they're giving you time to do it and keeping you application in its place in the queue.
