Unofficial drop from study

Hello there,

I started my study in may 2023. After completing my 1st sem, I took an unofficial drop in sep 2023 due to medical reasons. During my official drop, I studied and completed program on time. I am worried about PGWP eligibility. Please anyone give advice.

How can you withdraw for a semester yet also study? Please clarify?

My study started on may 2023

I did my first semester from may 2023 to Aug 2023.

Then I took an unofficial drop due to medical reasons

I did my second semester from Jan 2024 to April 2024 ( this was my official drop but I studied so I can complete my study on time)


Later on, I did my 3rd semester from may 2024 to Aug 2024.

Then I did 4th semester from sep 2024 to Dec 2024.

So were you scheduled to have a break between January 2024-April 2024? Would have been much better had you received approval from your school. You should include a letter of explanation and any proof of treatment that you received that made you unable to study. It will be up to IRCC to assess your application.

I did not know at that time that I had to get an approval letter from college. I just came to know that recently. I tried to ask my college to give me a leave of absence letter but they are saying that I should explain to IRCC, they do not provide that letter. What should I do? Is anyone faced this kind of issue? If yes, did you get your PGWP approval ?

Also, in my transcript, it shows four semester. I did all semester full time.

All you can do is explain to IRCC and provide proof of the medical issue and treatment you received that prevented you from studying.
