I know the sites say that the person sponsoring someone cannot be under government assistance, but is unemployment considered government assistance in this case. If you are on regular unemployment and not one of the emergency government extensions would that disqualify you from being able to sponsor someone?

You can sponsor even if you're on employment insurance.
