unaccompanying 20 year old child: physical?

We got our ITA yesterday and went to complete the application. We thought we had all our ducks in a row but were shocked to see that our 20 year old son who lives in the U.S. and will be staying there (he has zero interest in coming to Canada) needs a physical. He works full-time, has benefits, and has been completely financially and residentially independent from us since he was 16. (He's was in a rush to grow up!) It's not realistic for him to get a physical, esp since he only has one day off of work a week and the one panel physician in the area is far from my son's city. (My son also only uses public transportation.)

I'm sure he'd happily sign a form saying that he knows he can't come to Canada with us now or later. We can also write a declaration about how he has been independent for years and that we also understand we can't change our mind and sponsor him later.

Does anyone have related experience or wisdom as we try to make this case?

Since you've mentioned receiving ITA, I'm assuming you are applying through Express Entry. If so, you should really post your question to the Express Entry section of the forum to receive the best replies to your question.

All dependents, regardless of whether accompanying or non-accompanying, must take and pass the medical as well as provide police certificates. You'll need to get your son excluded from the application entirely. There are discussions regarding this in the Express Entry section of the forum.

Much harder than it sounds. Would suggest doing the medical.
