does any one knows if a Canadian permanent resident need a visit visa for visiting UK?

I think you need UK visa to visit UK. Only Canadian citizens with Canadian passports don't need visa to enter UK for max of 6 months.

Your PR status may give you advantage that they won't see you as visitor who doesn't intend to leave the UK at the end of the stay.. but you still have to follow the normal steps to apply for the visitor visa.
