Is it possible for international students to earn 30-35 thousand CAD tuition fees and living cost by doing part time jobs during semester and full time during summer in Toronto?
My cousin is planning to take admission in Seneca College.
Others with direct experience I am sure will comment but in my view unlikely to come even close given most students end up in minimum wage survival jobs so even with a full time summer break still would not get anywhere close. So just as an example lets say a job at 15 dollars an hour able to work 8 months part time and 4 months full time through breaks.
So just an example with weeks rounded up and assuming studying / working for every week in the year 8 months/ 34 weeks x 20 hours x 15 dollars = 10200, 4 months / 18 weeks x 40 hours x 15 dollars = 10800 Total for the year gross before any tax 21000.
So even with this very basic example a student would need to be very lucky to find a mainly part time job in the 30 dollar an hour range to cover living and fees of 35k. If your cousin succeeds in getting a job at around 30 dollars an hour that will pay them that for 8 months part time and 4 months full then good luck to them as there may well be those jobs out there in some specialised areas but will be a challenge to do so
Not possible. Many full-time workers earn earn this salary. Depending on the demands of his program he may not be able to work that many hours while successfully completing his course. Many Canadian students also struggle to find full-time employment in the summer months.
