Hi guys. My husband became a permanent resident end of August. I am in the process of sponsoring his children. The packages were returned to me today. I am not sure if I used the wrong package but they are saying I am not eligible to sponser step children. I did the dependant child package.
He cannot sponsor another spouse, should your marriage went south, and he decided to marry to another person and try to sponsor for 5 years. He can sponsor his dependents, if he had claimed them on his own application and his dependent had done and passed the medical exam. Also he can sponsor his parents, if he meets the income requirements for 3 consecutive years.

As has already been explained to you, you've misunderstood this rule. It only applies to sponsoring a new spouse - not dependent children. Again, your husband needs to be the primary sponsor for his children (not you). This is why the application was returned.

Ok. Thanks everyone. I have 4 children to reapply for. A little overwhelming that I have to start over. Meaning in my husband's name but I do the work.
