Hi all,

I am bit confused as to what I need to translate and notarize.

1. For instance, if I get my friends/family to write letters, can I translate it myself since it isn't a government document? Would I still need to get it certified?
2. all government documents need to be translated to English through a certified translator......do they also have to be notarized?
3. for all accompanying documents that are already in English, do they need to be notarized?

I am in the process of gathering up all the documents and I just want to know what I need to notarize and translate through certified translator.

Thank you all!! :D :D :D

1. yes.
2. yes.
3. no need. as long as it is in English (I didn't)

From CIC website

My police certificate(any other docs) is not in English or French. Do I need to send a translation?

Yes. If your application is not in English or French, you must send a translation from a certified translator with your application.

Translations by family members are not acceptable.

So basically, if anything needs to be translated, it needs to be notarized?

I get conflicting information about non-official documents not needing to be notarized or certified. If my friends/family write letters for us in English, would they still need to be notarized?

don't think so.
if your friend/ family write a letter in English , would not need to be notarized.
but make sure they sign on their letter.

not sure maybe other members think differently though.
