I would like some advise (or leon's expert opinion) on extending canadian TRV for baby born in UK.
Parents are Canadian PRs & UK citizens but have applied for dual citizen which is in process.
Baby is currently in UK & TRV runs out in March 2014 but we don't know if should try extend TRV?
We are on holiday & hubby will return soon but out of curiosity should I return with baby say April/Easter? (when TRV expired) will baby be refused entry??
Therefore in the meantime should we apply for baby's PR or wait until our grant of citizenship to enable baby's dual citizenship?
Bit confused as to what can do any help appreciated. Thanks!

You should sponsor the child for PR. Your citizenship application could take years to be processed. It is likely that continually trying to extend TRV will be very inefficient.
Thx for the reply.
How long does it take to apply for PR? Do u think TRV will be refused?
Hoping citizenship won't take years if straight forward & no RQ fingers crossed

An educated guess, PR for a single dependant child, through London? 6 months (ish). I don't want to guess about TRV refusal, as you are dealing with extensions, rather than an initial application. I'm a little surprised that you managed to obtain a TRV in the first place.
Normally a TRV, whether applied for explicitly or via a stamp at the Point of Entry, is granted on the basis that the holder will return to their own country when the visa expires. For a child with PR parents, it is normally assumed that this condition will not be met, so they are often denied if an explicit application is made. Glad it worked out for you.

Oh OK didn't know the ins & outs of it lol guess we were just lucky.
Think they stamped it to give us time to apply for PR but we were thinking citizenship would be faster but as mentioned could be a lengthy process so extending TRV doesn't make sense as we WILL NOT be returning to UK anytime soon, so we'll stick to our decision to apply PR asap!
Thx for your help Zardox (your another expert on here)!
