Happy Easter to every one !!! :)

Both my wife and myself are PR holders. We stay in Dubai and willing to relocate from here to Canada with our 2 yrs old daughter. We were advised by Canada Immigration, UK office to apply TRP for our child. We are still waiting from last week of Jan-2014. Awaiting their positive reply....

1. Could any one assist how many days will TRP get processed and to receive it?
2. My wife PR validity has only 2 yr and 1 month left. We need to enter ASAP to Canada along with our daughter. Is there any procedure to get fast/express way to get it done?

We will be more happy to get legal consultation who has amicable experience on TRP procedures and help us to get soon.

Kindly requested to help us to move permanently to Canada.

Warm Regards,

If you are cutting it close with the residency requirements, it is important that one of you go to Canada now while you can still meet them. In a worst case scenario if the TRP is denied, the one who is in Canada and who still can meet the requirements can start sponsorship of the child from Canada while the other waits with the child outside. If you both wait outside and end up in the situation that neither of you is able to meet the requirements, even if you make it to Canada you would have a problem with the sponsorship.

1. The bolded text is a repeated theme on this section of the forum - PR is to live in Canada not somewhere else and visit/ be willing to relocate to Canada. Though the 2/5 year requirement gives you significant leeway to return back to Canada thousands of PRs keep getting caught out just as many thousands get away with it..a deadly game of roulette really.

2. What are your landing dates MM/YYYY? The validity of your PR Card is never your RO window because the card is issued post landing and this could be several months after depending on whether issuance was straightforward or problematic e.g new photos requires.

3. Do you have any compelling reason as to your absence from Canada (employment doesn't count)?

4. TRP process times should be quoted on CHC London website but should be within 30 days for an answer. If issued validity usually 6 months but can be 12 or exceptionally 18 months.

5. No there is no expediting of entry into Canada unless your daughter holds a visitor visa exempt passport which I presume she doesn't given you are going via the TRP route. Maybe if you were in a region facing unrest or environmental issues such as hurricanes - CIC understandably processes visas etc in these areas to expedite a re-union/ return to Canada.

Dear Msafiri,

Thank U for your valuable advise. I replied with my comments related to your inputs below.

Kutta: I really understand what you say, my friend. I did not see recently the TRP/TRV posts related to our subject and that’s why I requested. I don’t think I have made a wrong decision. However our situation made to return back to the country of Residence to continue our work when we first visited and stayed in Toronto in 2010. But we now decided to go back to Canada with our daughter.

Kutta: 31st March 2010 is our D. of Landing in Toronto

3. Do you have any compelling reason as to your absence from Canada (employment doesn't count)?

Kutta:Nor really. But that was not a major reason. Due to adoption procedures of our daughter made us to stay in the country of residence from where we applied (through Authorized AFAA for Middle East appointed by CARA in the United Arab Emirates)

Kutta: We initially applied TRP in Jan 2014 with relevant documents (as advised by CIC- London office) along with the CAD $ 200/- to CIC London as per their advise since the Middle East comes under their jurisdiction. But we got all those documents with refund application form and advised to apply from UAE Embassy. The embassy advised us to approach the VFS Global. But we found there is no such TRP form and we were told to mention “TRP application form in the top of the TRV form). We finally applied 3 days back in VFS Global in Abu Dhabi. We were told that the Canadian embassy will review our documents and accordingly they will advise the TRP in maximum 7-10 business days.
We are hoping for the best !!!
