Travelling to US with work permit and student visa?

Hi,

I have recently obtained work permit till 2020 after doing my grad studies. But my passport still has a valid student visa stamped until 2018. Am I allowed to travel to US as my work and student permit has different validity?

Why should this be a problem given you have a valid work permit, assume it is a PGWP , and that sort of takes preference over the study permit ? As a non PR you will still be subject to the same immigration vetting as everyone else but having a valid reason for being in the country is in your favour..

It is all depends how strong your reason is for going to US, whether it can be a visit and convince them you will return to Canada. you are good.
