I need to travel to Toronto from Kolkata in the coming weeks. I have the below questions:
1. There is a requirement for PCR Covid test for flying to Canada. Is Rapid PCR acceptable for this?
2. I am planning to take a flight from Kolkata having 18 hours of layover in Delhi. If I chose to do RT PCR, is this time enough to get the test results?
3. Is there any cut off time from Air India to submit the PCR Covid test results? (I saw a YT video which said Air Canada has cutoff of 10 hours for RTPCR)
4. Does Air India stop selling tickets 2 weeks prior to the date of flying?

You must have the results within 18 hours and there have been no posts about people not getting their results in time to board. Results are sent via email. The one lab is required to the testing for direct flights to Canada so everyone on your flight should be there getting tested. The acceptable PCR tested are posted online but the lab knows what tests are possible for travellers to Canada. Have you been fully vaccinated? With what vaccine?

I am also exploring options of transiting through a third country as it seems to be much cheaper option. Transiting through London Heathrow seems like a cheaper alternative to flying directly. Anyone has any information or thoughts on that?

Ahh I see. No wonder not many people are talking about this option.
Does it mean you have to secure a UK entry visa as well in order to take this route? From govt of uk website transit is visa free if you have Canadian visa. But, if the rest center is outside of the transit area, a visa for UK may be required.
