Traveling by car from USA to Canada to become a landed immigrant

Hi Folks,

We are planning to cross the border from USA to Canada to become a landed immigrant and to apply for our PR card. We are planning to go there on a car as we live close to the border. We are planning to head back to the US in a couple of days after completing the formalities. We read somewhere that You have to pay duty on the Vehicle even if it is a rental vehicle. Is that true?

Take the greyhound. and btw, you will need to provide an address to get your PR card delivered to in a few months.
