Travel to United States with work permit

I’m planning to travel to USA but my student visa on my passport expired. My work permit is valid until 2020, can I come back to Canada after going just to the States?
How would be the entrance back to Canada?

You need a valid document to travel. What citizenship do you hold?

Im from Colombia, I’ve been living in canada for 3 years and I have valid work permit in here.
I have my American tourist visa valid.
My question is if I need a TRV to come back to Canada or can I do it with my work permit
