Travel to the US on Implied Status.

Hi everyone:

I need some advices over this matter.
My girlfriend's study permit has expired on Jul 30, but since she has already applied for an extension before the permit expires, so she is now on implied status. We are thinking to go to the US for 2 days next week.

I just checked the processing time of the study permit application. It will take about 30 days. It is very unlikely that the study permit could arrive before we leave to the US.
Could my girlfriend re-enter Canada? with what status?
Also would this temporary leave affect her application?

Any comment is appreciated.

She would be readmitted, but would be unable to attend school or work until she receives the extension.
