Hi,
I have applied for citizenship and got my test date for 23rd Oct 2018 (almost 2 weeks) from now.
I am okay with appearing in exam.
But after exam I have travel plans to india during end of november (29th-30th) till december (31st) for my friends wedding.I am nervous, if i get my oath ceremony in mid of november or in between my travels. I have to surrender my PR card and can't travel.
Any suggestions ? What can I do in this situation ? Although, on there website they say you can get oath ceremony call within 3 months after your exam.
One of my friend suggested me that you can tell your exam officer about situation & they can add a note in the file.
Thanks in advance

Speak with the interviewer; they are flexible with requests. Good luck

So, here is the back story -
I had a planned vacation from Oct 13 to mid-Nov. Wife was planned to be away from mid-Sep to mid-Dec. We booked tickets for this in June and immediately contacted IRCC through web form. Got a response sometime in July that my communication has been sent to local office.
In August, during my test/interview, I again told the officer regarding my vacation dates. She noted them.
On Sep 18, we both receive an email from IRCC for oath on Oct 09. I reply back immediately through the email they mentioned stating the reason we cannot attend oath.
Next day Sep 19, I receive an email asking for flight tickets, hotel reservation or any proof. I immediately attach the flight itinerary and send it back.
On Sep 28, I receive an email from IRCC expecting that they must have re-scheduled the ceremony. To my surprise, the pdf is exactly the same that I received on Sep 19 i.e with the Oct 09 date. I have replied back again but have not received any response. I have a feeling this communication intended to change the date but somehow by mistake they didnt.
Today is the last business day before my oath date. If nothing comes today, then I am planning to show up and not take oath. My wife is not here, so she will 100% miss the ceremony. Regarding me, I cannot take the oath because if they take my PR card, there is no way I can enter Canada mid-Nov. I cannot get Canada passport before my travel on Oct 13. I am on vacation and going to 3 countries, so applying Canadian passport while abroad is next to impossible. I cannot extend my vacation as I dont have leaves from my office.
Any suggestions on what I can say to the officers when I show up on Oct 09 so that they will re-schedule?
Sometimes though we inform through webform
or at the time of interview about our travel plans still the oath invitation are send.

So, what’s the solution? Not to speak with the officer?

There is no guaranteed solution if you read the post of forum member
amitdi.
Though he informed thru webform as well as got his file marked during test & interview that he will be going for a trip ouside Canada still they scheduled him for Oath.
It is still advisable to inform the officer during the interview BUT you do not know whether they will still send across the Oath invitation.
In my case I did my test and interview in June . I was told to expect the Oath invitation by Dec since the IRCC functions in slow mode during
summer months. In Aug I had a emergency call and had to leave to India. I informed thru webform and got reply that its noted.
I came back after a month and again informed thru webform that I am back in Toronto . They replied after 3 weeks and informed me that everything is fine with my file and to wait for a Oath invitation before the 12 months processing timeframe.
But now in fall its different and we can see many applicants getting Oath invitation within 3 weeks after test and interview as per the posts of many forum members. Hence Vohra I myself do not know what will be the best solution in your case.

Lol! Which case are you talking about?
I replied back to vohra. I think you got a little confused..
You would have two options: travel back to attend the ceremony or request to reschedule. One of friend did this rescheduling without issue and is now a citizen.
I am going to the oath ceremony to tell them that I cannot attend. The ceremony is in the afternoon 1pm CT, I will let you know. I am also carrying the oath form and passports. This is in case they force me to by saying my application will be cancelled if I dont attend.
