Hi All
My paper application for PR Card renewal was delivered on Apr 4th 2023. It's a straight forward renewal as I meet all obligations.
I can't see any status update online using https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/authenticate.do.
Seems file is not opened yet.
I am planning for travel in July mid this year. Hope I won't have issues. How long does it take to receive AOR? will it come by mail or email?
Should I plan for PRTD as back up? How long does it take?

Not sure that IRCC issues an AOR for a PR Card renewal application (suspect they do not). Those that receive AOR (for other types of applications) is via email.
With the ongoing PSAC strike one can only assume that there will be delays, so your backup plan seems like a very good idea. The question is: when so apply for the PRTD.
If you are able to return from your trip via the U.S., you can re-enter Canada at a land PoE in a private vehicle (car, for example), since having a valid PR Card is not a firm requirement, there. You only need to provide some evidence (even an expired PR Card would work) that you were a PR and that your PR status has not been revoked or renounced.
Again, because of the current strike, nobody can say with any real certainty how things will look (in terms of processing times) when you're ready to apply. Hopefully, your PR Card magically arrives in your mailbox, thwarting the need for a PRTD at all
