I am already having a valid work permit and entry visa valid until December 2015.
If I become a new immigrant and apply for PR card but leave Canada before my PR card is issued to me, can I still return to Canada on my entry visa which I took with my work permit which is good until December 2015?
No - you can't. They were canceled when you became a PR. If you are a non visa exempt passport holder and are returning to Canada on a flight - you need a valid PR card or a travel document to return.

Yes - the OP can re-enter Canada via a US/Canada land boarder with just a CORP (that's why I mentioned flights in my response). However anything involving an airplane flight into Canada will require a visa exempt passport, a valid PR card, or a travel document.
I don't think the OP has a COPR. To me, it sounds like they are using the term "pr card" inappropriately and assuming you get a PR card immediately upon approval. The way i'm reading, it doesn't sound like the OP has actually applied for pr yet. It sounds like they still need to apply for PR and are asking if they can enter canada on a work visa when they are waiting for PR APPROVAL.
Scylla - if this is the case, If the work visa is still valid until Dec 2015, and the OP is WAITING for PR approval, can't they still leave and enter Canada on that visa?
Yes I am asking this question in a speculative manner. I have received passport request for PR visa from New Delhi office and they gave me option to aubmit passport at Ottawa office.
I have not submitted my passport yet.
But I do need to make a trip out of Canada on November 15 and my flights are booked.
Does anybody know how long would Ottawa CPC take to return my passport with visa????
So basically you're booked to travel one month from now?? I wouldn't care what anyone says, even if it was the CIC call Centre, I wouldn't risk sending them your passport now. Wait until you get back.
A. Sending your passport to ensure that your PR application is not cancelled and cancelling your trip at the last minute, if your passport isn't returned in time.
B. Not sending your passport, which sounds like it would jeopardize your PR application.
i think u are right...i will submit the passport and wait for it to be returned asap...if does not come before my travel date then i will cancel the trip immediately
