Travel History for a Minor - PR card renewal

I know that minors (under 22?) are exempt from calculating their absences for citizenship applications, but does this also apply to PR Card rewewal? Or do they have to list all their absences outside Canada when renewing their PR card?

Also, why are children required to show school records / transcripts? Is that only if child has a legal guardian that is not a parent? Or is that always required?
