I am international student in Canada from Ukraine, currently enrolled in secondary school. My school has a planned trip to US, in May. I obtained an american visa for this trip. But my passport will expire in September, and here are 2 questions:
1. Will I be able to come back to Canada from US, holding study permit only?(I do not have a valid TRV)
2. Will I be allowed to enter Canada, if my passport will expire in 4 months(coming back in May, my study permit also expires in September). I know some countries have 6 month rule, what about Canada? Could not find anywhere this information.
1)Believe that you will need a valid TRV to come back into Canada given Ukraine is not a visa exempt country.
2)Not aware of any 6 month minimum rule for Canada although the US does have one but Ukraine is exempt from that see here https://www.cbp.gov/sites/default/files/documents/Six%20Month%20Club%20Update_0.pdf
You can request to return to Canada on your original temporary resident visa, even if it is expired, if:
you will only visit the U.S. or St. Pierre and Miquelon; and
you will return to Canada before the end of your approved stay in Canada.
My original TRV expired a long time ago, I extended my permit till September 2017. Does it mean I can go to States and come back, showing on the border only study permit?
