I have a HDFC NRE bank account in India with my GIC money in it. But i dont know if i can transfer it to Scotia bank for GIC purposes. I have read online there can be issues but nothing written in Scotia Website and HDFC people dont know anything. If anyone knows any information regarding this. Please let me know. Thankyou in advance.

What issues exactly did you read ? Not sure about Scotia but I did mine through CIBC and was remitted with no problem.

Hi issue is information, i dont know if it is okay to have a nri account and transfer the gic amount from it. Or will there be issues in the future i.e they might reject it since its not a local account. Did you transfer to gic account from a nri account?

Hi yes, I transferred to my GIC from my NRE account. I don't think it matters otherwise it would not have allowed to proceed.

Thankyou for the valuable information. And could please shed some light on how to transfer as well? As i dont think it will be possible to transfer such a large amount online.
