I am a PR in Canada and want to invite my parents over to visit my family, so I'm applying for a visitor visa for them. Do they need to provide bank statements in the past 6 months or does list of bank transactions in the past 6 months work too to serve as a proof of funds? Thanks.

They provide their own funds with bank statements from past 6 months.
