I need some advice and info. This morning I was stopped by a cop and said I rolled over a stop sigh without stopping and gave me a ticket. The fine is $110 and I have three options.
1. Plea of guilt and pay the fine
2. Early resolution by meeting with prosecutor in person or phone ( I might be able to lessen the amount to pay)
3. Trial option - to appear in court to plead not guilty.
My gut feeling is to plead guilty and pay the fine to avoid hassle even though it is a lot of money for me. But I do not want to jeopardize my future citizenship application. Could someone please please tell me which option is better and would it affect my citizenship application (haven't applied yet waiting for 3/5 to kick in) in any way. Please let me know ....Dpenbill, Spyfy, or anyone please. Very worried.

Thanks a million to both of you screech339 and kbanatwala, am relieved. It was a bad morning with kids playing up etc etc,and I didn't realize I didn't really stop, and the first thought that came to my mind was "have I jeopardized my Cit application". Thanks again God bless you both
Why would a minor traffic ticket jeopardize a citizenship application? Did you hurt someone? No. Is it a crime of moral turpitude? No. Are you a repeat offender who has had their license to drive suspended? Doesn't sound like it. Wouldn't denying someone citizenship based on such a minor thing be disproportionate and violate any standard of reasonableness in an ostensibly democratic society based on the rule of law? Yes, it would.
Always choose #3 method, take a chance and hopefully the cop won't show up in court.
And ofcourse ensure you do a full stop @ all stop signs in future.
Stop signs are one of the biggest traps for these cops, they love catching people there and collect more money for govt to waste on $hit
