Did you pay the fee before you apply or after? Did you have medical check up already? I heard that if we pay the fee and have medical check up in advance it will save a couple months processing, is it right?
When sponsoring a partner, the medical has to be done before the application is sent, you don't really have a choice in the matter.
For fees, you have to pay 2 out of 3 before applying. The Right of Permanent Residence Fee ($490) can be paid later, but that WILL delay your application - this is because if you don't pay it before hand, the visa office has to request that you pay (depending on where you are, the mail requesting it can take a while) and while they're waiting for confirmation you paid it, your application is on hold. So it's highly recommended you pay all the fees before the start.
I read, that outside Canada you cannot pay by credit card, is that true?

Luckly, my husband paid all the fee and I also had the medical done before sending the application. It has been 2.5 months since we sent it. Sponsoship was approved. We are waiting for the news from visa office in Buffalo.
Your case was so fast, 3 months rights? I hope I have that luck as you.
