TOEFL or IELTS for getting a visa

Hi,

I heard that the visa authorities prefer IELTS over TOEFL. though colleges/universities accept TOEFL scores, we have a better chances of getting a visa if we have a an IELTS score. I do not know how true is this. Can someone please comment on this? According to me both are equally good and well recognized English proficiency tests.

see, both toefl and ielts show your English proficiency. the VO needs assurance that you can read, write and understand English and it does not matter that you give ielts or toefl.
