To renew or not renew PR card?

Hi, my pr card is expiring in May-2021, however I am eligible to apply for citizenship in March-2021. I am planning to apply for citizenship. Should I extend my PR card? Please advise.

If you have travel plan, you need to renew your PR Card. If you are staying 100% no travel, you do not have to renew.

Hello,
I submitted my PR card renewal application yesterday. However, when I cam back home, I found that my photos still on my desk, . I forgot to put them inside the package. Can I just send another package since I have the form in my laptop and all other copies? Please advice.

That’s a good question. I have no idea if you keep the same number or not.

I guess only the expiry date would change on the card itself, so as I am thinking more about it probably no need to update anything. In the citizenship application I think they only asked two PR related info: the client ID and date when we became PR and we could not use PR as an ID document.

I posted another thread asking about this and the census is that because you don’t send in a copy of your PR card (it’s not considered a travel doc) you don’t need to do it. Also, I’d assume they have a record of it themselves since it’s linked to a person‘s UID number.
If I ever manage to get through to a person on the phone I’ll update.

My card is expiring in Jan 2021 and my file is still IP since March 18, 2019.

Can you please tell me how did you proceed ? I am in the same situation as you. Your inputs will be helpful
