I am a June 2014 applicant, and waiting for my PPR request, but I have a situation here that I will be on a business trip for 2 months and that might coincide with the timelines I have to send my passport, Can any one help if we have any options like requesting for extension of the timelines to submit the passport, if so what would be the procedure to request ?

there is a lot of conjecture in your statement buddy. June application means that you might not recieve your PPR before June-July 2015.
if you are going to travel around that time, and if you do get a PPR request around that time, then you can send out an email to them and explain your scenario. I have had a friend who was in a similar predicament, wherein he was in singapore and had to send his passport from india, but could not do it within the one month timeline, hence he wrote to CIC and they agreed that the passport can be sent within 45 days instead of 30 days in his case.
the other option you could try is to submit the passsport in the travelling country's Canadian Consulate. but not sure and you will have to check about that.. just giing you my opinion
