I'm as a protected person in Canada as my wife and baby at Saudi Arabia
I just applied for PR for me and them ..

i think not less than 20 month to get your family here
Likely more like 2 years or more although processing has gotten faster recently.

Their PR application will be with the saudi visa office until your PR application got approved and you successfully become a Permanent Resident. They will be contacted in between to submit police certificates, medical etc. As soon as you get your PR then they will get theirs Visas in a few months.
Hope that helps. Wish you good luck.
Things have since changed though. I know someone who gave his wife just the Notice of Decision from the court and they applied for Visa with it from their home country and seeing on the database that they have a PR application ongoing from inside Canada, they were granted their Visa and now they are here.
I had first asked a question like that on one forum like that and the response I got wasn't different from what I just explained.

That is not what generally happens but people can apply if they want.
