Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anybody here has any idea of the the timeline for a minor (3 year old) to be granted Citizenship. He got the PR back on May 2013 and we applied right away because we were told he didn't need to wait for the 3 years residency in Canada. But at the same time i can't find out anywhere how long is gonna take for him to be granted citizenship, is it 24 mos? I'd just like to know. If anybody can help that'll be greatly appreciated.

Thank you ;)

I'm not so sure that minors get to apply under a different timeline. Currently, "routine" applications for citizenship are sitting at 25 months.

I believe minors get their citizenship once at least one of the parents gets one.
So yea, same timeframe as everyone's.

I agree with you Iay...I have a little boy born dito sa Phils. Canadian ang asawa ko...right after I gave birth he just took the Original Live Birth Certificate back to Canada and process Citizenship...in a few months...APPROVED...he got his passport here sa Cebu Consulate.

The only time the child does not have the 3 year residency requirement to get Canadian citizenship is if one of the child's parent is a 2nd generation Canadian and cannot pass on the citizenship to the child. The parent would have to sponsor the child for PR. Once the child has landed in Canada, the child can apply for Canadian citizenship. However the timeline to get Canadian citizenship from application submittal is the same for everyone.
