OK, I'm a U.S. Citizen, but I was in Canada from Jan 20th 2012 til Jan 8th 2013 on a temporary open work visa. Under these conditions I am either a Deemed Resident, or a Deemed Non-Resident. Accordingly, I believe I was considered non-resident for my US taxes because I was barely in the US for the whole year. All the legal reading is confusing, can anyone help me out?
