Quick message.....I'm British, I came here in June and got the normal 6 month visitor status. I applied for the common law spousal package in August and everything should be fine with that. My question is that do I have to pay the 75 dollars and extend my temporary visitor status...or because I have applied for permanent residency, do I now have implied visitor service?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Mark Bramhall
I am in the same situation as you, and as far as i know you will still have to apply to extend your visitor status.
My status runs out on November 30th, I applied to extend at the beginning of October, i'm still waiting to hear, if i don't hear by November the 30th i'll then be on implied status until I do hear.
well the answer to that question would depend on whether you filed in-land or out-land... if you filed in-land no, you don't need to apply for an extension you would have implied status, if you filed out-land then, yes you need to extend your visitor visa. Good Luck!
Well I applied inland so seems like I dont have to apply for an extension then if im already considered 'implied visitor status'
Ill try and call the office to be 100% sure but for my life I cant figure out how to get through the automated messages to talk to a human. And the website sucks!!
Thanks for the help guys
Implied status
If your temporary resident visa expires after you have submitted your application for an extension of your authorization to remain in Canada, you will be considered in status as a temporary resident until a decision is made on the application. This is known as an Implied Status.
It looks like I need to brush up on my website viewing! Thanks for the help guys...puts my mind at ease.
Also happy I dont have to spend more money on this application!
