My parents are applying for Visitor Visa to stay with me for 3-4 months in the Summer. They've not booked tickets and don't have set travel plans. We can provide sufficient proof of financial means. What would be a good alternative to use a proof for purpose of travel? I have provided the letter of invitation which states that they are traveling to visit family and for tourism purposes.
I am not bothering with applying for the Parents Supervisa as they will definitely not be staying in Canada for more than six months at a time because they do have too many ties back in India to make it impossible to stay longer in Canada. Plus, I don't think they will be fans of the Canadian winter
You can book tickets without purchasing. Some airlines like Lufthansa allows you to download the booking or itinerary and gives you 48 hours to purchase. I suggest to you this as purpose of travel. Also, show proof of medical insurance.

Purpose of visit:
A detailed day-by-day visit plan with expense estimates. Your parents must have the finances to pay for this expense plan + airfare
Don't book tickets until visas are issued. You can include 'dummy' tickets. Do check Yatra.com. They used to have a 24-hours hold ticket option without paying. Not sure if they still do
I applied for my mothers TRV last month and it approved in 3 weeks. I went with Bryanna's suggestion for everything including not to book travel ticket until TRV is approved. I prepared a day to day travel plan for my mothers, which included things like "staying with family", "visiting relatives", etc and i did mention approx expense for each and in end the final cost. Ex: i mentioned travel to Niagara falls for 2 days and mentioned CAD 400 approx cost for this. Just have a table with three columns in Excel; Date, Plan, Approx Expense, and fill the details.

I don't have a day-by-day visit plan. They'll just be staying with me and seeing places as they see fit. Will it be OK if I make an itinerary which says "Stay with family and visit nearby places" for weekdays and family trip to various local tourist spots for weekends with about $100/trip expenses a day?
They can show more than $50k in fixed deposits and pension statements and govt. issued IDs. Is it still better to include a flight ticket? I'm bit uncomfortable as if they question me the tickets then they are going to be dummy and not as per our actual travel plans once we decide on it.
Alternatively, is it ok to make a detailed itinerary for a month or so even if actual intention is to stay longer (3-4 months) if they are not bored here.
They also need to report to their local bank office to sign Life Certificate to get for pension purpose in November.

Please research.... both a day-by-day visit plan + expense estimates (entry fees, activities, meals, etc). It indicates a well-thought purpose of visit instead of a vague statement about why they are visiting.
The visa officer would only like to know the approx. flight fares. So, it is not necessary to have tickets that are valid until the visa decision is made.

Dummy tickets work perfectly fine. You can include a statement that actual tickets will be booked when the visas are granted.
It is not a wise decision to book tickets before visas are issued because it does not assure visas + visas can be granted long after the travel dates have passed

Hi, I've been reading most of the threads in this forum and mostly those that you have replied.
Please.. I need your advice or anyone who can help answer my concerns.
First of all, I am from Indonesia and I am still a student at one of the university in Indonesia. On July 6th 2019, I got married with my long term boyfriend. He is a canadian citizen and he is in Canada now. I am planning to visit him and his family with my parents.
I want to ask about the financial sponsor thing, since I am still a student it means I have no income and I am still dependant to my parents (cause I lives with my parents in Indonesia), who should I put as my financial sponsor on my application? My husband or my parents?
I genuinely dont have any intention to overstay in Canada since I still have lots of responsibility regarding my university to get my law degree. I genuinely just want to visit my husband and take a little bit time to refresh my brain from my final projects for my degree.
This is gonna be my 2nd time applying since I just got refused today.
You may book verifiable flight reservations for a visa application by spending a very cheap cost. You can use these flight itineraries instead of flight tickets and these reservations are completely acceptable by the embassy or consulate.
