Temporary Resident Visa Status

I am a student and I have applied for Temporary Resident VISA through paper as in Canada Applicant on June 3, 2018, and the CPC Ottawa had received the application by June 5, 2018. It's been almost 8 months from the date of the application made and yet there is no progress in my application status. I have sent a lot of emails to the corresponding office at CPC Ottawa, sent a Case Enquiry but the only reply I got all the times was that my application requires additional verification and they couldn't promise me any specific processing time. I have even emailed to my constituency MP regarding this and they have contacted CPC Ottawa on behalf of me and yet the reply was the same. Can someone please suggest what can I do here because 8 months for TRV extension is way too much. Adding to it I received my study permit extension within 21 days of applying but I don't know why are they taking this much time to process my extension for Temporary Resident VISA.
