I was checking the CIC website for my eligibility to apply for BOWP, while I am waiting for AOR & I was given option to apply for "Temporary Resident Visa".
So I wonder whether I need to apply for Temporary Resident Visa now and apply for BOWP when I have AOR?
Current work permit expiring on 31st jan 2014 & already have tickets to leave country on same date. Since I am waiting AOR at this time, is it advisable to apply for Temporary Resident Visa now?
I believe that in order to apply for Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) from within Canada, you should have a valid Work Permit(WP)/Study Permit(SP) in place.
Considering that you current WP is expiring in January, you would probably not be granted a TRV until you get a new WP beyond January.
I would say maybe you should apply for WP extension (not BOWP) instead of waiting for AOR because just in case you do not receive your AOR before 31st Jan, you would have to stop working and maybe leave Canada. If you leave Canada before you get your AOR, then obviously you do not qualify for BOWP. This means that you cannot come back or start working in Canada until you get your Permanent Residence.
I had seen in the other threads where people had applied for BOWP and leaving Canada, then while entering Canada immigration officer has issued the WP, as its in approved status in CIC.
So seems like I can still leave Canada while AOR is in progress and apply for BOWP after 2 weeks of sending the PR application, i.e while I am still in Canada. (May be people can reconfirm the same)
Now I wonder whether I should apply for TRV as well when I am out of Canada to enter back or if I know that BOWP is approved, I can just enter and have the stamping done at port of entry.
