temorary residency for the sponsored person?

Hi,

So my wife has landed last week, i sponsored her, but at the airport she was told that she will be getting a temporary residency for 2 years then she would be getting the permanent residency. she also didnt get the record of landing.

Is that normal now a days? any recent experience?

Hi

Not temporary but conditional; she is still a PR. All it means is that she must reside with you for 2 years or else her PR status can be revoked. Condition 51 gives more power to CIC to deal with those who try to use Marriages of Convenience to come to Canada.

There should have been 2 copies of the COPR, one with a picture. CBSA should have kept the picture one and given her the other one. If she didn't get that copy, then that was a mistake; she should contact CBSA at the airport to see if they kept it and she can get it back.
