I have a valid H1B that expires in September. My GC is filed and probably will take another 4 months to get approval. In the meanwhile, I plan to visit Canada on a business TRV for 6 months and telecommute for the US company. My questions are:
1. Can I open a bank account and get paid in Canada for work done for my US employer?
2. I assume I should be paying tax in Canada, is that right?
Thanks
Thanks. Since my current TRV is valid till September, should I apply now for the TRV extension or should I wait till August? In other words, will the 6-month extension start from now or when my original TRV expires in September?
MUST APPLY before expiry of current TRV - i would say a week before expiry, while application in process u will be on implied status and have 90 days to re-instate. Between this time u must receive extended TRV - duration is discretion of VO
good luck
