Hii, I am an international student in Canada. Can anybody tell me when I need to apply for tax file? Is there any deadline for it? I am applying for tax file first time in Canada so I have no idea about it.
The CRA will start accepting electronic tax returns by February 18, 2019. The tax-filing deadline for most Canadians (for the 2018 tax year) is on April 30, 2019. For those who are self-employed, or who have a spouse/partner who is self-employed, the deadline extends until June 15, 2019.
As a student, there are several free options to file your taxes, including software like TurboTax and uFile. There may also be free tax clinics in your area or school where they file your taxes on your behalf. Here are some resources you can check out:

All these links are great, but somehow I remember discussion that first time filers are not able to use electronic tax returns, since CRA just does not have their SIN yet. The suggesting was to use online software, print out the tax return and mail it properly. Is it right?
