Tax documents for someone living outside canada

Hi

just a questions regarding Tax information. I'm just about to go through sponsoring my spouse and they require me to provide proof that i have paid my taxes right. if I'm a Canadian citizen living out side the country for more than 4 years not working. how do i show proof of tax. do they charge some kind of Penalty for that. :'(

Where are you asked for such tax information?

Are you referring to the printout (I forget what it is called) from CRA that says whether you have been on welfare? The purpose is just that: to find out if you have been on welfare, not to see if you have paid your taxes.

If you have been outside Canada, then you cannot produce that form. Just say so in a cover letter, and it will be OK. That's what I did.
