surrender and oci in calgary April 2022

I went in to surrender my passport and oci together in Calgary. I had an appointment today but when i reached there it was walk in.
Also since April 1st its surrender first and then once u receive it u need to submit your oci.
so the info given by agents is not really accurate.

The BLS office said I'll receive my surrender certificate in 2 weeks
oci is 5 to 6 weeks max.

no you cannot. you need SC for OCI and SC takes 3-4 weeks to come.

what does the application say? It clearly states that you need copy of Canadian pp.

Canadian passport copy (self attested) is required. If you are going to submit at BLS in person then they may ask you show the Canadian passport (original) for verification (which they will return at the same time)
If you are submitting by postal only self attested copies of the supporting documents are required. Do send the original Indian passport though as it has to be stamped with a cancellation stamp

Hey can someone tell me approx. timeline when they got surrender ship certificate, I applied on Aug 3rd, and still did not get file no there yet..! I tried calling them but no luck

Applied for surrender certificate on 8th sep 2023 at Calgary BLS. Waiting now
