Hello, my mom is in Canada on a tourist visa (not super visa) for 6 months. I would like to apply for an extension.
What are pros and cons to extend her status for 2 years (under Super Visa rules) instead of another 6 months?
After we file for extension, can we apply for an actual super visa in the US without her leaving Canada?
Well, with Super Visa she is basically allowed to stay much longer for a single entry than TRV allows.
That is about it in terms of differences between regular TRV and Super Visa apart from higher approval rate for the latter.
Another thing is that for Super Visa you will have to buy a Medical Emergency Insurance that is valid for 1 year and is $100,000 worth of total coverage.
As for the second question, you can apply for the Super Visa from outside Canada as long as you are a Canadian PR or a Citizen.
