Hello Everyone,

I am a Canadian Permanent Resident living in Mississauga. I recently got married and now I want to sponsor my wife. Can anyone suggest a trustworthy immigration consultant in Mississauga/Toronto area.

I know that cic website mentions that choosing a representative has no affect on the processing of your case but I believe that a good and experienced representative can surely guide you in leaving loopholes in your application process that can later on take a lot of time in correspondence. Processing time for Pakistan is already very long :( .

Cheers,
Ali

You're going to have a lot of people tell you this, so I might as well mention it: unless you have a complicated case (previous marriages, criminal inadmissibility, etc), you're not very likely to need to a consultant. Their fees can be pretty steep for what they do, and this forum -- and all its members who've gone through this experience and have heaps of helpful advice -- will likely be all you need to answer your questions and help keep you from getting too overwhelmed with the process.

Now, with that said, hiring an immigration consultant is a personal choice. It does give some people that peace of mind they need, that extra line of defense to make sure they haven't missed anything. If you can afford to hire one, and are cautious enough to do everything in your power to make sure you hire one who knows what he/she is doing, then all the power to you.

Two things:

1) I personally know of a decent immigration consultant in Burlington, Ontario. I'll PM you his information after posting this, in case you want/need it.

2) Regardless of who you hire as a consultant, please, please make sure that they are certified and approved by the Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants (CSIC). There have been plenty of stories of people being ripped off by incompetent consultants, and fraudulent ones as well. Do your research, play it safe. Link to CSIC's website for locating consultants: https://www.csic-scci.ca/find/.

Whether or not you actually decide to hire a consultant, feel free to post any and all questions you have about the process on these forums. There are lots of people here willing to help others out. And of course, do plenty of forum searches; 9 times out of 10, I've found that my specific question has already been answered in older threads before.

Welcome to the forums, and good luck :).

You can also contact David Cohen, he is an immigration consultant and this is his website that the forum is on.

He's technically an immigration lawyer, not a consultant. But yeah.

Rjessome answers many questions on this forum, and seems very knowledgeable, honest, and thorough. Look for her pen name and ask her.
