studying for minors (schools in canada)

hello everyone,
I was wondering if I want to apply for my son in a Canadian school, will he need a study permit ?? and if not will I be able to accompany him and apply for a work permit ?? And what if I want his younger brother to accompany him, will it be the same application ( like family visa) or a separate one ??
N.B: they are 10 and 8 yrs old.

So you want your son to go to Canada on his own to study, correct? You need to first get him accepted to a Canadian school, pay the fees and then you need to find a Canadian guardian. This can either be through the school (if private) or someone you know. They take on the responsibilities of caring for your child because you are not allowed to live with him in Canada. The same process for your younger child. There is no family study visa.

You can visit but not work. You can accompany him to Canada and get him settled but then your return home. Having a Canadian minor student gives you no benefits and no authorization to work. If you want to immigrate, then you look at the Canadian immigration programs. People think that having a child in Canada studying allows them to circumvent work and immigration laws but it doesn’t.

thanks for your reply. as I know one of my friends whose son is studying in college there and she is going to settle down with him . so I though same rules apply for minors !

You must have misunderstood. Your friend must only be going to visit. Having a child in college in Canada does not allow the parent to move to Canada or to work here.

You can’t live with your children as minors. A Canadian guardian is mandatory. if your friend’s son is in college, your friend has a vistor visa not a working visa.

Yes, we are 100% sure. She can only come to Canada as a visitor. Again, having a child in college in Canada does not allow the parent to live or work in Canada.

No. She needs to have a permanent, full-time job offer and the employer needs a positive LMIA. The employer needs to show that a Canadian or PR couldn’t be hired and that hiring you will expand their business. Then if you have a positive LMIA you apply for a closed work permit. It costs the employer time and money.

she is a pharmacist .. so she has almost 4 exams to pass to be able to work there .. she already passed the first one and preparing for the second .

She can but only after the employer obtains an approved LMIA. This is a long and expensive process - generally 6 months with no guarantee of approval. It's generally very difficult to find employers willing to go through it.

It's not possible for her to go through him. She doesn't understand the rules or isn't telling you the full truth.
