Hi all:

I am on a study visa at the moment which is valid for 2 more years, and I am thinking of applying for a Common-law partner visa with OWP since we have been living together for more than 1 year. I had a few questions:
1. I am studying right now, so If I apply OWP will I be able to study until OWP is approved? if yes, what if it comes in the middle of a semester, what would happen then? should I stop my studies right there or continue to finish that semester? It is so expensive for an international student, I don't want to waste my money.
2. Let's say if my OWP is approved and after a year my PR is refused, what would happen then? In that case, I would have already lost my student status, would I be able to get it back to complete my studies or not? would I still have OWP status or not?

1. If the OWP is approved, you stop studying. It doesn't matter if it is in the middle of a semester.

2. The OWP would remain valid. If you wanted to continue your studies, you would have to reapply for a study permit. If you continue the same program, the gap means you would not qualify for a PGWP.

The easy solution is to just apply for PR and keep studying.
