If I get a new passport (with different number, of course), how does it affect the validity of my study permit, which has current passport number on it?
I could not find an exact answer for this, and I am wondering if anyone had a similar experience.
I am on a study permit. I renewed it once, and somehow I got a study permit valid after the expiry of my passport.
Now I am about to apply for a new passport (my home country does not allow to extend a passport), I am wondering the effect on my study permit. The current study permit expires in 2018.
Should I notify CIC for the new passport? Should I apply as if I am extending the study permit? Or am I ok if I carry the old (current) passport along with the new one?
Please let me know if you had a similar experience.
