Study Permit to Work Permit Before study completion

Hello everyone,

Please guide me. I have done Bachelors in Computer Engineering from my home country India. Apart from that I have 3 years of work experience as software engineer from India. I have also given IELTS general with CLB 9.

Then I took post graduate diploma course in Network Technology and came to Canada on study permit. But after coming here, I realised I may get a job based on prior experience. I have already paid my fees for first year.

Is this any way possible to get work permit before my study completion i.e. before start of 2nd year?
Please suggest me a way out to change study permit to work permit ?
What should I do now? I need genuine help. Please advice me.

You find an employer willing to go thru the LMIA route . Advertise, pay compliance fee $1000
If it’s a positive LMIA, you use that to apply for a closed work permit. FYI
It’s not guaranteed

To get a LMIA, the employer has to prove that no Canadian or PR could be hired or has the skills, only you. You will need ECA for degree. Most employers will not go through the process.

Hi Sorry about the phrasing. I wasn't actually gonna change. I'm in the second year of my PhD with my study permit and plan to quit the program. I'm perfectly eligible for an open work permit. The only problem I have is just that I hold a study permit and I haven't officially quit yet. Thanks

So you need to apply for work permit. Don’t quit studies until WP is approved.

Hi thanks. I have to quit to do that, because IRCC needs proof that one can work while studying. For PhD it's impossible and my department doesn't allow that as well.

No, I dropped that plan to apply for work permit. I am continuing with studies.
